Former Live Entertainment Executive
Palm Springs, CA

Wm. Fran MacferranFran Macferran spent 35 years as an executive in the live entertainment industry. He considers himself one of the lucky ones – he has never had a job that felt like work.

His BS in Accounting/Business Administration got him in the door of a concert promoter expanding their business. He joined the development/acquisition team and was a key player in building new amphitheatres and turning around underperforming theatres/promoters. He settled the financial arrangements for the company’s larger promotion efforts, working with many of the bands that got him through high school – The Who, the Stones, Pink Floyd. He left his career in music as the President of the company’s amphitheatre division, responsible for operating 14 live music venues in the US and Europe.

Shifting to the non-profit world he became the President/CEO of a performing arts center in Houston. He led a team that took this venue from hemorrhaging money to one of the most successful Broadway houses on the touring circuit. In mission driven efforts they launched access programs and presented the first sensory friendly presentation of a Broadway show outside of New York, Disney’s The Lion King. Wicked opening on Broadway and Hamilton taking the world by storm bookend his theatre career. He was a Tony voter for 15 years.

Fran brings to DCI his superpowers of empathy, kindness, intuition, a strategic brain, and a relatable communication style.

He enjoys hiking, playing the strategic board game Catan, and nurturing his foodie interests by cooking and trying new restaurants.
