Hunter Barrier Hunter Barrier has enjoyed an interesting career in commercial real estate design, development, and construction. He is drawn to the built environment and its potential to improve the way people live and work. His work includes advancing new models for senior living communities, creating mixed-use developments that integrate urban housing and corporate office space, and structuring innovative public-private partnerships to deliver new public facilities.

Hunter is the former Regional Chairman and President of Ryan Companies US, a leading national developer and builder. He also served as the President of two large real estate development firms, Opus South Corporation and McShane Companies, where he was responsible for developing and executing national strategies which involved launching new regional offices.

He earned a BA from Vanderbilt University in economics and philosophy and completed the graduate curriculum in real estate development and construction at The University of Texas at Austin. Hunter enjoys live music, hiking (especially in the mountains), comedy (movies, standup, and improv), long road trips, and lively dinners with friends.

Hunter lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Pamela, who is deeply engaged in improving K–2 literacy outcomes in public school systems in Texas. They have two married children: a son in Austin and a daughter in Boston.
