Senior Partner Emeritus, Mercer Global Advisors
Palo Alto, CA
Peter Gifford has spent the last two decades partnering with families, foundations, and endowments to steward their assets. At Mercer Advisors, he co-founded the Regis Group, a wealth management practice serving the firm’s largest, most complex clients. Peter has extensive experience investing across public and private markets and has advised clients on tax and estate planning, real estate, and philanthropy. Peter previously served as the President of Regis Management Company, a multi-family office and private investment firm acquired by Mercer in 2022.
Peter has worked in venture capital and high-tech and began his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in New York, Menlo Park, and Sydney. His career has provided him with a global perspective that informs his interest in markets, policy, and international affairs.
Peter’s commitment to service has led to board leadership and investment committee roles across a range of nonprofit organizations, including the Palo Alto Community Fund, Children’s Health Council, The Hotchkiss School, East Palo Alto Charter School, and Avenidas.
A Bay Area native, he enjoys exploring local trails and traveling to remote places. But he is happiest wading in a spring creek with his fly rod. As a Stanford undergrad studying Political Science, Peter spent a term at Stanford-in-Washington interning for The World Bank and completed coursework at the London School of Economics and Oxford University. He later earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
