Dan Carroll Dan Carroll is the co-managing partner of Brooklands Capital Strategies, an investment advisory firm based in San Francisco established a decade ago in partnership with TPG. Prior to that he spent over 22 years as a private equity investor in Asia with both Hambrecht & Quist and TPG, living in San Francisco, Bangkok and Hong Kong (and several Asian airlines!).

A committed believer in the power of early childhood literacy, Dan has served as a board member of Reading Partners for 12 years, including several as board chair. Founded in 1999 in Menlo Park, Reading Partners delivers a highly effective curriculum through volunteer tutors based to students in kindergarten through 4th grade across the US. The organization has served 90,000 students since its founding.

Dan attended Harvard undergrad and graduated from the GSB in 1986. He met his wife Stasia Obremskey at Morgan Stanley’s analyst program in the early 1980s. They live in San Francisco, where Stasia is fully immersed in building Foreground Capital, a VC firm focused on women’s health. They have three adult children, all Mandarin speakers pursuing careers ranging from 5th grade math teacher to podcaster to wilderness guide for Outward Bound. Their daughter (the podcaster!) is Stanford BA ’24.
