Brook Griese

Dr. Brook Griese is a clinical psychologist and artist who has devoted her life to promoting resilience and growth in children and adults who have experienced trauma, loss, and adversity. In 2002, Brook and her husband, Brian, co-founded Judi’s House in memory of his mother who died when he was 12. This family bereavement center has provided care to many thousands in Colorado, impacting countless others nationally through the research and education initiatives of JAG Institute. Brook spearheaded the nonprofit’s research and trauma-informed programs and served as CEO before transitioning to her current role on the Board of Directors.
Brook has served as an adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado, as well as on the Governor’s Colorado Behavioral Health Task Force, Mayor’s Denver Education Compact, Denver Public Schools Foundation Board, Colorado Mental Health Consortium, CU Depression Center Board, and Institute for Human Resilience Advisory Board. In California, she has enjoyed volunteering as a Los Altos Art Docent teaching art in public elementary schools.

Brook studied psychology, visual arts, and public service at Albion College before earning her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder. In this new chapter, she is interweaving these passions through illustrated children’s books and oil painted portraits of resilience aimed at creating social impact.

Brook finds her greatest joy in the mountains of Colorado with Brian and their two children and miniature golden retriever, where she loves reading on their porch swing, painting in her studio, and skiing and hiking among the aspen groves.
