Tech startup advisor and investor
Los Altos, CA
Alan Louie is an angel investor, entrepreneur, and strategic advisor whose career reads like a highlight reel of Silicon Valley history. Today, he heads Louie Labs, where he funds and mentors startups across the education, healthcare, biotech and sports industries.
Recognized by Forbes as one of the “Impact 15: Classroom Revolutionaries,” Alan has spent years harnessing technologies to transform education. In 2011, he founded Imagine K12, an influential accelerator that launched K-12 heavyweights like ClassDojo, Remind, and NoRedInk.
Alan played pivotal roles in scaling the early internet. At Google, he closed the seminal Google Ad deal with AOL, led Microsoft and DOJ relationships and launched Google.org’s first grants. His knack for business development drove early revenue and foundational partnerships at tech pioneers like Shutterfly, Netscape, Infoseek and Sun Microsystems.
After earning his BA in Physics from Occidental College, Alan’s career began as a science researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, working on high-energy physics and radio astronomy. He optimized aviation analysis for Cray at the famed Lockheed Skunk Works, and is still the only person known to juggle five balls inside a Cray-2 supercomputer.
A dedicated philanthropist, Alan advises and judges Stanford Graduate School of Education students, Harvard Innovation Lab challenges, and U.S. government grant competitions. He bikes, hikes and builds embedded systems for fun. Alan and his wife, Annamarie, have three wonderful kids, a yellow lab and raise service dogs for Canine Companions.
