Life Coach, therapist and Board member at Outward Bound California
San Francisco

After a 12-year career in public relations promoting everything from walnuts to a major daily newspaper, Winn Ellis started her second act by matriculating in a psychology graduate program. In between raising two infants, she received her MS in Clinical Psychology and eventually became a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.  Over time, it became clear that the positive influence of objective, practical and thoughtful guidance through life coaching was rewarding and she transitioned to the field by earning her coaching certification. Several years later, Winn has a small coaching practice and continues to hold her therapy license which adds perspective and additional insights to her work with clients.

Enhancing and rounding out her work life, Winn is a long time Board member of Outward Bound California.  She is also a member of The Philanthropy Workshop (TPW) and an active spouse member of YPO Gold/ San Francisco.

For fun, Winn enjoys walks with friends and her dogs, e-bike rides, watching movies (a recent pandemic hobby), reading books and articles, dining out and taking advantage of San Francisco’s lively cultural scene, (especially SFMOMA and ACT.).  She also takes full advantage of her New York Times cooking subscription by giving her husband, David Mahoney, the recipes she wants him to cook. Winn and David  have two adult daughters.

Winn received her BA in English from University of Colorado/Boulder and her MA in Clinical Psychology from what was then called California Graduate School of Psychology.  Her coaching training was at the Coaches Training Institute; Winn is a certified Designing Your Life Coach.
