Board Director, Leadership Coach, former VP Consumer Marketing LinkedIn
Los Altos, CA
Propelled by an insatiable curiosity about what matters to and motivates people, Teresa Kersten is continuously engaged in a cycle of listening, creative thinking, and making a difference. From designing an undergraduate major in the “History of Ideas” to leading marketing teams in high-tech, Teresa is always energized by human-centered problem-solving.
As LinkedIn’s VP of Consumer Marketing, she accelerated the company’s evolution from a networking platform for Silicon Valley insiders to an interactive global community that enriches the lives of millions of professionals every day. Previously, she founded a marketing strategy firm and counseled Adobe, Apple, Intuit, Juniper Networks and numerous startups on ways to create business value by designing solutions that address real consumer problems. She believes in the importance of humanizing workplaces and especially enjoyed coaching founders on how to build corporate cultures that align with their values.
As a volunteer, Teresa has focused on diversifying tech companies. From sponsoring women leaders in tech to developing STEM camps for high schoolers to championing Stanford ACT pro bono projects, she thrives on creating communities that move causes forward.
She is currently completing Georgetown’s Transformational Leadership Coaching certification and has launched a Leadership Coaching practice to elevate women into executive positions. She serves on The Motley Fool Board of Directors.
Teresa earned both an BA with Honors and an MBA from Stanford. She has three adult children. When pursuing her passion for long-distance hiking, she invariably finds short cuts that take longer but make for much better stories.
