Palo Alto, CA

Twenty -one years ago Erik Thomsen made the decision to leave his job and become a full-time stay-at-home dad to his two daughters. The girls have grown and now the youngest is off to join her sister at college this fall.  Erik decided to follow in their footsteps.

Before deciding to become a parent, Erik directed a school retention program in Portland, Oregon. In partnership with the Portland Public Schools and the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement, he oversaw an effort to decrease the dropout rate of Hispanic (K-12) students. Prior to heading west his social work career began in Washington DC as a case manager for the Hispanic HIV+ community.
