Jason Wheeler has over 25 years of experience as a finance executive. Most recently, he was the CFO of Forward, a start-up focused on rebuilding healthcare from the ground up. Jason also served as the CFO of Tesla. During his tenure, he raised $1.7B in equity and more than $1B in debt financing. Jason also led Tesla to its second-ever profitable quarter and co-led the acquisition of SolarCity, helping to create the world’s first vertically integrated sustainable energy company. Prior to Tesla, Jason spent 13 years at Google where he led the global Finance function. He managed a global organization of 1,000 professionals, several of which have gone on to become public and private company CFOs.
Jason currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Boettcher Foundation where he chairs the finance and investment committee. He was previously a board member of Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit focused on changing the culture of youth sports.
Jason holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Colorado State University, where he attended as a Boettcher Scholar and graduated summa cum laude.
Jason was born in Colorado and graduated from a rural high school in a class of 21 students. He is very happily married and has three children, one at Northwestern, another at Michigan and one in high school. Jason is an avid golfer and occasional triathlete — he completed the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in 2012 and 2017.
