William (Bill) Matthes is the former Managing Partner of Behrman Capital, a mid-market private equity firm based in New York and San Francisco. Behrman Capital focuses on Healthcare Services, Aerospace and Defense and the Specialty Packaging and Distribution industries. During Bill’s 25-year tenure at the firm he served on dozens of private company boards and a few public company boards. Prior to Behrman Capital Bill was a General Partner at Brentwood Associates in Los Angeles. He started his career as a Financial Analyst at Morgan Stanley in NY.
Bill has an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, Loeb Rhoades Fellow and Copeland Award nominee. He also earned an AB in Economics from Stanford. Bill is a long-time Trustee of University School in Cleveland, Ohio and a former Trustee of the Breakthrough Collaborative and Stern Grove Festival. Bill and his wife are current members of the Stanford Parent and Family Advisory Board.
He and his wife have a daughter who works in marketing in NYC and a son currently at Stanford (‘25). He is an avid competitive tennis player, golfer, trekker and skier. He is also a long-time member of the Barbary Coast YPO chapter.
