Chansoo JoungChansoo Joung is a former partner of Warburg Pincus, a global venture and private equity investment firm. While there, he was responsible for a variety of investments in the traditional energy sector and also coordinated the firm’s activities in clean energy. Specific investments included oil and gas exploration and production, gas fired power, gas processing and transportation, solar modules, wind turbines, biofuels and grid storage devices.

Prior to Warburg, Chansoo spent 18 years in the Investment Banking division at Goldman Sachs. Starting with tours in Corporate Finance and Mergers in New York, he transitioned to London where he founded the firm’s Energy Group. Upon returning to New York, he joined what was to become the Natural Resources Group. After his promotion to partner he co-led and then led the Natural Resources Group. His division-wide responsibilities included a two year stint co-heading recruiting and co-heading our diversity initiative.

Chansoo’s first professional experience was at Morgan Stanley working on computer based proprietary arbitrage strategies in the equity markets.

Chansoo grew up in Chicago then earned an AB from Dartmouth College where he majored in physics. He also earned his MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth with high honors and was named a Tuck Scholar.
