N.R. Sumathi brings over 20 years of experience in drug commercialization within the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, with a strong focus on market access and pricing. With a background in economics and a passion for healthcare, she focused her career on developing sustainable drug pricing strategies and expanding patient access to innovative therapies.
Most recently, Sumathi served as Executive Director and Global Head of Value, Access, and Pricing at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, a company focused on rare diseases. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Ottawa and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Wisconsin–Superior Foundation, supporting scholarships, faculty development, and campus initiatives.
After a decade in Boston, Sumathi is excited to return to the West Coast and begin a new chapter of exploration and growth and is interested in reimagining the future of healthcare.
Outside of her professional life, she is an outdoors enthusiast, and enjoys cooking, traveling, and gardening. Her younger son is a Stanford student, while her older son works in consulting in the Bay Area.
