Former CEO and Board Member
Menlo Park, CA
Busy Burr has brought authenticity, heart, and a creative, ambitious spirit to her career addressing the challenges of enterprises —large and small, established and start-up, public, private and non-profit. Importantly, she is known far and wide for her wicked sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Early in her career she was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley where she was one of only a handful of Wall Street bankers pioneering technology investment banking in Silicon Valley. She later took on retail branding and marketing as VP of Global Brand Management at Gap, Inc. She fearlessly embarked on an adventure as founder and CEO of an apparel software start-up which, though unsuccessful, led the way into the mass customization market. Later she was the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at eBay, where she led the creation of a new social e-commerce platform. Busy was then lured back to banking where she led global digital transformation efforts as a Managing Director at Citi. Busy later moved on to healthcare, joining Humana, bringing her talents to their innovation efforts and founding the firm’s strategic investing practice, Humana Health Ventures.
Most recently, she was asked to serve as the interim CEO of Rite Aid Corporation where she implemented a growth strategy, hired top talent, and positioned the company for a critical financial restructuring.
She earned her BA in Economics from Smith College and her MBA at Stanford. Busy raised two wonderful sons with her wife of 41 years, and is a long-time performing member of the Bay Area improv troupe Subject to Change.
