A New York native and longtime California resident, Leigh Sherwood Matthes is an early-stage investor and advisor focused on improving access, innovation, and equity in women’s health. With decades of experience spanning marketing, brand strategy, and private real estate development, Leigh brings a deep understanding of how creativity and business intersect to drive impact.
Leigh is an investor and advisor to Peri, an early-stage company advancing women’s health. She also brings over two decades of leadership experience across nonprofit boards and advisory roles — including Every Mother Counts, UCSF Health, and Stanford’s Challenge Success — where she has helped launch and scale mission-driven organizations in maternal health, healthcare, and education.
In parallel with her investing and philanthropic work, Leigh is the founder of The Matthes Group, where, over the past 30 years, she has acquired, developed, and managed real estate assets from diligence through development and sale. This experience informs her entrepreneurial and operational approach to building value.
