Adjunct Professor, English and Communications Department Fashion Institute of Technology
New York City, New York
Susie Case is passionate about helping young designers and entrepreneurs find their stories and tell their stories. Her proprietary curriculum, taught for the last decade to 500 students from 40 countries at SUNY’s Fashion Institute of Technology, builds on the design elements and principles to create a framework and vocabulary for professional communication about design. Interior, product, graphic and accessory designers and photographers learn to present with clarity and power that impel to client action. Many of these students have found sustained careers in design after graduation.
Susie also coaches at the Parsons-affiliated accelerator XRC Labs, where she has worked with 50 founders of retail and fashion start-ups on their business strategies and pitch proposals. Susie’s first career was at the First Boston Corporation as an equity analyst following computer hardware companies, for which she earned a place on Institutional Investor’s All-American Research team. Susie then taught securities analysis to second-year MBAs at Columbia Business School.
Originally from Pasadena, California, Susie earned a BA and MS in Engineering from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Susie is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Group for Harvard’s Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and a board member of Restore NYC, which provides safe housing and job training to international women rescued from sex trafficking.
Susie and her husband Bob live in New York City; her three children live in the Bay Area, and the family meets in Park City, Utah. Susie enjoys biographies, baking, and biking, and has travelled to all 50 states.
