Amit Gupta has worked in the financial services industry for 25 years. He joined the HSBC Group in 1992 in India and relocated to Singapore in 2000 to help the bank develop its South East Asian derivatives business. Amit went on to become Treasurer and Head of Global Markets, HSBC Singapore in January 2008. In this role, he was responsible for all sales, trading, balance sheet and capital markets activity for the bank in the region. He also served on the Singapore-based boards of HSBC Asset Management, HSBC Trust Services and HSBC Insurance. As part of the group’s leadership team, he got invaluable exposure and experience in successfully navigating the global financial crisis.

In January 2012, Amit was promoted to be CEO, South East Asia, HSBC Private Bank and joined the global EXCO for HSBC Private Bank.

In May 2014, he took a sabbatical from HSBC for travel and introspection. At the end of the year, Amit decided to leave banking. He is currently a private investor and is following his passions. He is also an advisor to a few startups in the area of Artificial Intelligence and data analytics.

Amit is an avid sportsman, playing tennis, cricket and golf, participates in quizzes and travels extensively. His wife, Gauri, is active in the classical arts and theater scene in the local Singapore community. They have three daughters who have completed their higher education in the USA. Amit and his family are Singapore citizens.

Amit completed his MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad (1990) and BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Bombay (1987).
