Bill McCarthy is a construction engineer and business leader, having spent his 40 plus year career as a commercial general contractor and construction manager. He is the Executive Chairman and former CEO of Compass Commercial Construction Group and the former President and CEO of Pepper Construction Group. In his role as CEO of Compass Construction, Bill led the growth of the firm from $8 million to more than $500 million in revenue between 2017 and 2022 focused on industrial warehouse and manufacturing construction. Bill’s management emphasis was on creating a strong, sustainable company by providing education, leadership development and succession planning skills to its employees. Bill truly enjoys the opportunity to work with teams in the successful completion of purposeful buildings. These have included more than 10 projects greater than $50 million, including the $750 million Eskenazi Hospital, which is a critical access hospital serving Indianapolis.
Bill has a BS in Architecture from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Bill is the Chairman of the Eskenazi Health Foundation and also serves on the board of kNot Today, an organization which works to protect the beauty and innocence of children by fighting the issues of sexual abuse and exploitation.
Bill resides in Indianapolis, Indiana with his wife Moriag. They have four grown sons and five grandchildren. Bill learned about the DCI when his son and daughter-in-law were attending the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
