Serial Entrepreneur, Investor and Philanthropist

Marcelo DoRio is a Brazilian serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist, with over 30 years in entrepreneurship. Marcelo co-founded and ran Cervejaria Devassa, one of Brazil’s first craft beers, currently owned by Heineken. He founded Sonar Participações, later acquired by the Japanese Kirin Company, and created Vezpa Franchises, in which he is a partner and board member.
Over a decade ago, Marcelo became an angel investor in startups both in Brazil and in the US, serving as mentor, board member, and advisor for a number of companies and nonprofits.
Currently, Marcelo is engaged in philanthropic projects in Africa and Brazil, working with local communities to develop sustainable solutions, to fight climate change and to support preservation of the wilderness and wildlife.
Marcelo lives in Menlo Park, California with his family. He enjoys trail marathons, skiing, riding, and hiking. Marcelo holds a FAA helicopter pilot certificate and enjoys taking friends and family on adventures in and above Northern California.
