Kim Laughton has spent the majority of her career at Charles Schwab & Co., most recently as president of Schwab Charitable, a nonprofit donor-advised fund provider established to encourage greater levels of charitable giving by making it simpler and easier to give. During her tenure, Schwab Charitable became one of the largest fundraising charities in the United States and facilitated over $17 billion in giving to more than 175,000 charities. Prior to joining Schwab Charitable, Kim held a variety of leadership, strategy, and general management positions at Schwab, supporting its tremendous growth and democratization of investing. Earlier in her career, Kim was a vice president for Citibank-Asia/Pacific in Singapore and a Consultant for Bain & Company.

Kim has been recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the most influential women in Bay Area business. She has served on the board of the Educational Foundation of Orinda and as the head of its investment committee. She is currently a member of the International Women’s Forum and a member of the board of directors of Students Rising Above, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting potential first-generation college students from high school to career to realize their objectives.

Kim grew up in Houston, Texas and attended Stanford University, where she graduated with a BA in Economics and a BS in Biology and fell in love with the San Francisco Bay Area where she later settled and has raised her five children. She also has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
