David Silk was a Partner and is currently Of Counsel at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz in New York City. David’s expertise includes hostile and negotiated merger and acquisition transactions, private equity transactions, proxy contests, restructurings, joint ventures and securities laws, and advising boards and management teams on corporate governance matters, including sustainability and ESG. His clients include public and private companies and high net worth individuals in a wide variety of industries, including sports, shipping, beverages and consumer products.
David grew up in upstate New York, where he attended the State University of New York at Albany, and he earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. David has written extensively on governance and transactional topics, and has served as an adjunct faculty member at Penn Law.
He is co-chair of the Board of Advisors of the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the Board of Advisors of Penn Law. He is a past chair of the Corporation Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and served for many years as a member of the Corporate Laws Committee of the American Bar Association and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Harvey School in Katonah, New York.
An avid boater, David lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife Felice.
