HurleyJean Collier Hurley is engaged in multiple activities linked to her professional experience and continuing interest in written, visual, and strategic communication. As a philanthropist she supports and provides strategic insight to nonprofit organizations emphasizing palliative healthcare, aid to vulnerable populations, and the promotion of the visual arts. As an urban photographer, she travels to major cities in the United States and abroad, capturing the vibrant pulse of city life and creating prints, photo-essays, and illustrated books for corporate and private collectors. ( She has also written about art and artists, cultural trends, and urban design. Jean was recently engaged to photograph and document the week-by-week demolition and reconstruction of the interior of an international corporate headquarters in San Francisco, creating a series of prints as well as a book. She is continuing to explore photography as a means to distinguish the urban scene and its unique neighborhoods.

In her career as a partner with AMB Property Corporation, (now Prologis, Inc.) Jean directed the formation of private capital from institutional investors. She was an Inaugural Fellow in the 2015 Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute, and she holds an MLA from Stanford University (’11) with a thesis on end-of-life care decisions; an MBA in finance from the Berkeley Haas School of Business, and an MS from San Diego State University. As a breast cancer survivor she was the catalyst behind the creation of a survivor’s butterfly symbol for a New York cancer foundation. In San Francisco she is a member of SFMOMA and the Fine Arts Museums; in New York she is an active supporter of new initiatives at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is also a member of the Whitney Museum and MOMA. Jean sponsors the Stanford Palliative Care Kalanithi Award for writing about serious illness, and she serves on the Board of Directors of the Stanford Women’s Club of San Francisco. She is an advocate for healthy living, and enjoys running, the performing and visual arts, getting together with friends, and artisanal coffee houses.
