James (Jim, “Big Red”) Wetrich has been deeply involved in healthcare for more than 45 years. He is currently a CEO Mentor with Building Champions mentoring and coaching senior executives. Jim is a Professional Certified Coach with the ICF. Jim founded in 2001, The Wetrich Group LLC consultancy offering advisory, marketing strategy and human capital management services for medical device and pharmaceutical companies. Jim also servs as CEO for Spirrow Therapeutics, a preclinical stage life science company focused on drug therapy for pulmonary indications like respiratory distress syndrome (adults and premature infants), lung transplant, and fibrosis.
During his career, Jim has worked in hospital administration and hospital management consulting. In the mid-1980s, he played an instrumental role in the development of the University HealthSystem Consortium.
Jim worked at Abbott Laboratories for 11 years where he began as the Manager of Corporate Strategic Planning. While at Abbott, he spent four years in product marketing; two years as Marketing Director for European Operations; two years as Director of HealthSystem Sales; and four years as Divisional Vice President. Jim worked at Molnlycke Health Care for 8 years where he served as President and General Manager of the Americas.
Jim has a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California; a Master of Health Administration from Tulane University; and a MBA from Emory University. He serves on several boards and advisory boards. He is currently on the boards of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the global enterprise board of the International Coaching Federation and Debra of America. Jim is a Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Tulane University as well as the Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award from The Webb Schools. Jim is married to Nancy, and they have two sons and three grandchildren.
