Non-Profit Board Member, former VP and Strategic Advisor, VMware
San Mateo, CA

With 30+ years of experience in the software industry focused on continually adding value to high-tech enterprises, customers, and diverse global employees, Sindy Braun brings her strategic, operational, and people leadership skills, and her passion for serving the global community to the DCI program. Her chosen mission is to apply her corporate expertise to empower nonprofit organizations to scale for greater impact and efficiency with limited resources.

At VMware, one of the top five software enterprises in the world, Sindy was a “go-to” resource for C-Suite executives and business leaders for her facility in turning complex challenges into innovative, scalable solutions across Marketing, Product Marketing, R&D, Operations, IT, Go-to-Market Strategy, and Human Resources. By bringing disparate stakeholders together and achieving consensus, she drove the goals and upheld the values of VMware throughout organizational, technological, and market changes.

Sindy was a key catalyst in helping VMware scale from 1,500 employees and $1B in revenue to 25K+ employees and $10B in revenue through initiatives that included the Cross-Company Business Readiness Program, Cross-Company Strategic Planning and Interlock Process, and Cross-Company Operations Program Management Office.

Bringing her business knowledge and skills to scale the Sustainability, Philanthropy, and D&I efforts at VMware, Sindy established the initial Sustainability Strategy in partnership with the VP of Sustainability; realigned the philanthropic and social impact endeavors; and expanded Diversity & Inclusion to include Spirituality.

She attained a Bachelor of Commerce Honours (Post-Graduate) from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and resides today in the Bay Area.
