Ron Katz is a civil litigation attorney at GCA Law Partners, LLP specializing in intellectual property, antitrust and sports law.He is also Chair Emeritus of University of the Pacific’s Institute of Sports Law and Ethics.  He has taught trial advocacy at Stanford Law School and sports law at Santa Clara University Law School. He is currently a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Silicon Valley, and previously he has been a member of the American Law Institute, the U.S. Olympic Committee, the Board of Overseers of New York University, and the Council on Foreign Relations. While an NYU Overseer, he co-founded the Torch Fellowships with his wife and DCI Partner, Elizabeth Roth.

He has also worked for Ambassador-at-Large Elliot Richardson as Deputy Director of the Office of the Law of the Sea Negotiations at the U.S. Department of State. Ron was a prosecutor at the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he received the Attorney General’s Outstanding Performance Award. In addition, he was an International Legal Center Fellow working for the Minister of Justice of Indonesia and teaching at the University of Padjadjaran in Bandung, Indonesia.

Ron received his JD from Harvard Law School; his MA from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College; and his BA from New York University. He has written and spoken extensively in his areas of expertise, most recently presenting to The Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics and the California Judges Association.
