Libby Roth specializes in employment law and has been in private law practice in Silicon Valley since 1982. She has written over 50 articles on employment law issues and other developments in the legal profession. Many of her articles and speaking engagements have explored various aspects of the growing presence of women in the legal profession. She served as an editor of the American Bar Association’s Litigation News for 11 years. She also served for over 10 years on the Board of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, an organization that provides free legal services, strategic advocacy, and educational outreach to the community.
Law is a second career for Libby. Before attending law school, she was an Assistant Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and also taught English at the University of Washington in Seattle and at Haile Selassie I University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She also has taught at the high school and elementary school levels.
She earned her J.D. from Duke University School of Law, her PhD and MA in English from the University of Washington, and her BA from Cornell University. She and her husband Ron Katz have three grown children.
