Alan Marks is a public relations and corporate communications executive with more than 30 years of business experience at leading global consumer brands and Silicon Valley technology companies. Most recently, Alan led corporate communications, social responsibility and brand strategy from 2008-2015 for eBay Inc., where he served as Senior Vice President reporting to CEO John Donahoe. During this period, eBay Inc., which comprised eBay Marketplaces, PayPal and eBay Enterprise, more than doubled in size, as measured by revenue, earnings, employee base and market capitalization. As part of the company’s executive leadership team, Alan helped lead the successful separation of eBay and PayPal in July 2015. Alan’s other professional experience includes senior communications and executive leadership roles at Nike, Gap Inc. and Avon Products.
Alan began his career as a journalist and holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as an M.A. in liberal studies from New York University. He serves on the boards of the Arthur Page Society and the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose. Other interests include writing, photography, design and cooking.
