Lindsay Eakin’s career has included being at home for her four children, being a school teacher for fifteen years, and finally helping start public charter schools, all in the Washington, DC area.

Lindsay’s teaching career began in her early forties after she went back to school at night to earn her masters in education. She taught elementary school math and she enjoyed making that fun and exciting for her students. In 2002 she left the classroom to help start DC Prep Public Charter Schools with her husband. During the early years of the school Lindsay was involved in hiring teachers and volunteering in various capacities. Today DC Prep is a network of five charter school campuses serving almost 2000 inner city students, and is the top rated charter management organization in DC. In addition, Lindsay also has served on the board of trustees for two private schools.

One interesting early job that Lindsay had while still in college at American University was working for The Washington Post during the Watergate scandal. It was exciting for her to assist Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, although they never shared with her the name of Deep Throat.

Lindsay enjoys cooking, playing golf, playing bridge, skiing and especially spending time with her four adult children and seven grandchildren.
