Ms. Carter is an accomplished leader and successful investor with over 35 years of experience in the private capital investment markets. After 25 years with Commonfund Capital (CCI), Ms. Carter recently retired from her position as President & CEO. CCI is a global private capital solutions provider and a subsidiary of Commonfund, an investment management firm founded in 1971 by a grant from The Ford Foundation. CCI invests in funds, secondaries and co-investments in venture capital, private equity and natural resources strategies.

For the year 2015, Ms. Carter was a Fellow in Stanford University’s Distinguished Careers Institute (DCI). She is a current board member of the BlackRock Equity Liquidity Mutual Funds and the Pacific Pension & Investment Institute. She also serves on the Advisory Board for Bridges Ventures U.S. and the Executive Advisory Board of the Center for Private Equity and Entrepreneurship at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. She also chairs the Advisory Board for a new educational organization, Girls Who Invest.

Before joining CCI in 1989, Ms. Carter was with Morgan Stanley & Co. from 1985 to 1989. Prior to that, from 1978 to 1985, she was with GE Investments. She holds an A.B. degree in Economics and Business from Lafayette College and is a graduate of GE’s Financial Management Program (FMP). She also completed the Woman’s Director Development Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Ms. Carter lives with her husband Nick in Riverside, CT. They are the parents of a daughter in Washington, D.C. and a son in Los Angeles.
