Siew Kai Choy has over 30 years of experience in investment management, retiring from Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC Private Limited, after 20 years of service. He was a Managing Director of GIC and held key leadership positions in Equities, Risk & Performance Management, enterprise Data & Analytics, Governance and GIC Innovation Labs. He was also a member of the Corporate Management Committee and Group Risk Committee.

Siew Kai’s investment management experience and contributions to GIC spans across equities portfolio management, enterprise risk & performance management, asset class allocation/ rebalancing/ completion management, trading, securities lending, operations (asset class COO equivalent level), investment technology/data science, shareholder proxy voting and asset owner stewardship/governance. He has a good understanding of the business models of most industries represented in a large (40+ countries, 2000+ companies) Global Equity portfolio.

In his earlier career, Siew Kai had the start-up experience of building from scratch all functions of a boutique fund management company and also leading change initiatives in one of the largest South East Asian banks.

He currently acts as an independent investor in and/or advisor/mentor to Banking, Fintech, Medtech, Blockchain, Cybersecurity and multi-industry DeepTech listed & private companies/funds located in Singapore, California, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Estonia. He has a deep interest on the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution (especially cyber-physical/bio/social systems) on industries, business models and jobs.

Siew Kai holds a BSc in Computer Science and Management Science (joint honours) and has attended The Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program for Senior Executives. He has a long time commitment to working with church and community organisations at the national and local levels.
