Rich Goldberg is the Former Vice President of Corporate Quality at Cisco Systems. He joined Cisco in 2005, after spending 28 years at AT&T and Bell Laboratories.

At Cisco, Rich led programs that improve customer experience, through process, product and service quality, bringing together leaders from across the business to achieve company-wide quality excellence. At Bell Laboratories and AT&T he led organizations responsible for engineering state-of-the-art data networks and driving performance improvement.

Rich is active in both academic and quality improvement communities. He is a long time member of the Dean’s Council of the University of the Pacific School of Engineering and Computer Science. Previously, he served as an advisor for the University of California San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, where he also chaired their Corporate Affiliates Program.

Supporting the community and driving awareness of diversity in the workforce are passions for Rich. Rich has consulted with several technology corporations to drive change in their quality and diversity, equity and inclusion programs. He also sponsored and participated in a number of programs that give visibility to inclusion and opportunities for women professionals at work, including co-leading the allies community at Cisco Systems.

Currently, Rich is serving as foreperson on the civil grand jury of the County of Santa Cruz, responsible for assessing operational effectiveness and efficiency of government departments and city and county leadership.

Rich has attended the Executive Program in Business at the University of Michigan. He has a PhD in Physics from Caltech, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from MIT.

When Rich isn’t working, he enjoys exercise, golf, home improvement projects, and spending time with his wife Linda, three children and three grandchildren.
