Dr. Pat Roberts has served as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center and Professor of Surgery at Tufts University leading over 130 physicians and surgeons along with 65 advanced practice providers in the care of over 300,000 patients who each year undergo over 22,000 procedures in 27 operating rooms.
Aspiring to become a surgeon from age five, she received both her undergraduate degree in history and medical science and medical degree at Boston University and then completed a general surgery residency at Boston University and clinical and research fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Lahey Clinic.
As a busy practicing surgeon, she has cared for thousands of patients and has been actively involved in the education and training of over 65 fellows in colon and surgery and over 200 general surgery residents. She has served as President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and President of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, where she led the development of the COSATS (colorectal structured assessment of technical skills), a technical skills examination for summative assessment of colon and rectal surgeons. She has published 140 peer reviewed papers, 46 book chapters and edited or authored six books.
Her interests include traveling, swimming, kayaking and spending time with her family. She is married to Mike Rosenblatt, MD, MPH, MBA. They live in Lincoln, Massachusetts and have three grown children.
