Marcelo Barbará is a founding partner of two investment companies: Lanx Capital and Cambuhy Investimentos, with investments in public companies, private equity, venture capital, startups, real estate and liquid assets. With over 35 years of experience in the financial markets, he has held a variety of roles. Marcelo started his career at Banco Garantia as a Fixed Income Trader and later he became Partner in charge of Administration. After the acquisition of Banco Garantia by Credit Suisse, Marcelo served as managing director for Brazilian Operations, and later head of Fixed Income for Latin America. Marcelo was also a member of Credit Suisse’s Executive Committee in Brazil. After leaving Credit Suisse, he joined his business partners to invest in private equity while simultaneously becoming CEO and Board Member of RB Capital, the largest independent securitization company in Brazil. He was a director of the Brazilian Association for Capital Markets (Anbima) and a member of its Monetary Policy Committee and Ethics Committee.

Among other pro-bono activities, Marcelo is one of the founders and board members of ProA Institute, a non-profit civil society organization that works to build a partnership between investors, companies, education institutions and public schools to give complemental education and work opportunities to underprivileged students. Additionally, he is a board member of Four Institute, a non-profit institution that seeks to train and develop young leaders; a board member of Positive Ventures, a venture capital fund that seeks impact investments; and a board member of MASP, São Paulo Art Museum.

He holds a BA in Business Administration from FGV/Rio de Janeiro and a Masters degree in Finance from FGV/São Paulo. He also has the Harvard Owner President Management (OPM) certificate and has participated in the Singularity University executive program.

Marcelo loves outdoor sports including biking, hiking, jogging, fishing, and horseback riding. Marcelo and his wife are parents to three young adults.
