Donna Tanoue has had an extensive career as a financial services executive, federal and state bank regulator, and lawyer in private practice. Donna served as Vice Chairman of Bank of Hawaii and a member of its Managing Committee, as well as President of Bank of Hawaii Foundation. She was a member of Bank of Hawaii’s Board of Directors.
During the Clinton administration, Donna served as Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, DC. She was also Vice Chair of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC). Previously, Donna was a law partner with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel in Honolulu. She served as State of Hawaii Commissioner of Financial Institutions.
Donna has been active in the community, and served on the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Consumer Advisory Board in Washington, DC: PBS Board of Directors, Arlington, Virginia; and The Queen’s Health Systems, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Donna received her BA from the University of Hawaii and JD from Georgetown University Law Center. Donna lives in Honolulu with her husband, Kirk Caldwell, the Mayor of the City & County of Honolulu, and their daughter.
